Giulia inizia il suo viaggio a 14 anni, perchè quando aveva 10 anni, dopo aver ricevuto il suo primo pokèmon, si reca nella foresta e viene "avvelenata" dalle spore sconosciute di uno strano gloom shinye da quel momento diventa cagionevole di salute.Poco dopo si trasferisce con la sua famiglia a Tormalina, nella regione di Jewel, per curare la sua malattia.Le cure sono inutili ed è costretta a rimanere al letto per 4 anni, finchè, quando arriva sul punto di morire,il Mew che aveva conosciuto lo stesso giorno dell'inicidente con Gloom, le salva la vita. Da quel giorno i due diventano inseparabili.
